His fist attempt at striking out on his own began in Hawaii when he traveled to the island paradise to collect on the boyhood promises of a friend who's career military father and Samoan mother had moved their family years earlier. He stayed on the island with the family for a few months before returning to the mainland and a job with the Mare Island Naval Ship Yard as an engineer, programing nuclear guided submarines.
A call to Kelly Services for three weeks of temporary work led to a call upstairs and an offer of full time employment testing mother boards then moving up to a supervisor position of platform design engineers with a new company by the name of INTEL based in Santa Clara. INTEL employees were frequently asked to help on the design projects of another relatively new company by the name of Microsoft. It was during this time that Hill met Bill Gates and continued to work with the industry giant on and off for many years. In fact plans are for Wilson to attend a retirement party for Gates later this summer.
While coming home from working a split shift Hill startled two men robbing his apartment. The men, angry at being discovered beat Hill and tied him up to a chair in his kitchen and continued to beat him until he slipped into unconsciousness. The men fled when hearing the garage door open indicating Hill's roommate Jeff was home from work. Finding Hill unconscious, Jeff called 911 and he was taken to hospital where he remained in a coma for 8 months.
After emerging from the coma Hill was diagnosed with post traumatic stress disorder and was now considered an agoraphobic. His fear of open spaces and being around large crowds kept Hill home bound for 4 years, his only communication with the outside world was through his gardening and the occasional visits of friends and family. During this time he began building computers from scratch and installing their operating systems. In the four year time frame Hill had built 688 computers.
Burdened with a tremendous amount of stress and worry over Hill's illness, coupled with a then new phenomenon known as computer viruses Jeff and Hill split and he moved to Idaho on the advice his court appointed trustee. It was while in Boise he developed the Boise Idaho PC exchange and flourished until a mental breakdown due to earlier incidents sent him spiraling back to San Francisco where he lived for 3 years as one of the thousands of nameless, faceless men and women shunned by society.
While homeless Hill continued with his computer repair work as best he could considering the circumstances until a chance call for repair work on a man's PC lead to his eventually kicking homelessness and finding his identity once again. Numerous attempts to get him to Menlo Park to rent a room were unsuccessful until finally Hill gave in but with great hesitancy. During the time spent in Menlo Park Hill was able to process the events that had happened to him whereby returning his confidence and self esteem almost immediately.
Hill's boyhood dream has always been to own his own computer business, being homeless wasn't going to stop Hill from making his dream a reality. He would often think about the company, that until now, only exhisted in his head and decided Palm Springs was where he wanted to make this dream a reality. So in 2006 he relocated here and launched his computer business. When Hill stepped on the bus at Menlo Park he only had 28 cents in his pocket but for someone like Hill who's done more with less it wasn't of concern for him at all. Within the first six month's, through word of mouth testimonials, Hill has amassed an impressive list of clients.
