Why Does Bruce Have To Die ? And why are judges so often so far from the wisdom of Solomon ?
But the face of Bruce haunts me!
He came up in my emails this morning, not for the first time. I signed the petition to free him... That was ages ago. In the meantime, he has remained a prisoner. It's nearly two years now since he was snatched from his loving family in Ireland, all because Bruce is a mix that looks like a pitbull, and pitbulls are illegal in Ireland.
So what if he's a pitbull? Pitbulls have proven to be loving family dogs, only misused by some, for which they have acquired an undeserved reputation.
It wasn't a dognapper that snatched Bruce, it was the police. And a judge (not one adjective, or I might get carried away) has just decided, finally, that this adorable little dog has to die.
The before and after photos stick a thorn in my heart... Happy before, now sad eyes, droopy ears, bent demeanor, and a wicked wound on his nose, where he rubs himself trying to get out of his cage.
Here, see for yourself :

The judge has decided that Bruce should die this coming Monday. Please, can you spare a moment to sign the petition for Bruce here ? :

Also, google « Ireland + Bruce pitbull » for more links.
Come on, Ireland, how can you be so cruel and heartless? What did this little dog ever do to deserve what you have done to him, what you are still planning to do? Show a little compassion! And even intelligence! Pardon this dog, who has done nothing wrong, and let him live! All pitbulls are no more dangerous than all short people are stupid (as the song famously says).
Please, everyone, take a minute to look at the links and to do something for Bruce!
Remember the words of Lamartine, the famous 19th Century French poet and animal defender : You don't have one heart for people and another for animals. Either you have a heart or you don't.
But actually, this is much worse than not having a heart. This is deliberate, wanton, horrible cruelty to an innocent creature. That is a crime in the moral sense, and it will have to be paid for, one day. The moral law is a boomerang that comes back to strike the wicked, later.
In the meantime, those who see what is happening and how great the injustice is, must do something, at least speak out, so as not to be counted with those who are perpetrating this crime.
Surely we can each find a minute for Bruce?
