Central Coast PODS franchises use new eco-friendly moving, storage containers in local markets

(Ventura, CA May 6, 2009) – PODS has signed a multi-year agreement with Wabash National´s DuraPlate® Products Group to provide new eco-friendly PODS containers to all national PODS franchises.

The recyclable containers currently are being delivered into the field by Ventura, Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo county PODS franchise owner Steve Yapp.

"As a franchise owner I am excited about our new USA-built DuraPlate containers as they will provide a more eco-friendly solution for the environment, and will ultimately result in greater efficiencies for PODS," Yapp said. "I believe it is our responsibility to look for ways to lessen our carbon footprint. Each new PODS unit has been designed to be 100 percent recyclable, and that is great news for everyone."

The new PODS containers have a steel frame construction with completely recyclable panels made of steel skins and a high-density polyethylene core and are available in three sizes: approximately 8-by-8-by-7 feet, 8-by-8-by-12 feet and 8-by-8-by-16 feet. The 12-foot and 16-foot containers have been tested to withstand winds of more than 110-mph when partially loaded.
