PODS Rapid Response Team prepares for hurricane, severe weather season
The leader in portable moving and storage, PODS has established an in-house Rapid Response Team. Implementing strategies with the onset of disaster(s), the Rapid Response Team monitors weather patterns and implements best practices as needed to dispatch PODS containers in the most effective manner.
"Our Rapid Response Team assesses areas in distress, determines how many PODS® containers may be needed, how many are currently on the ground, and implements plans to increase local capacity utilizing our network of franchisees across the country," said Thomas A. Ryan, Jr., PODS president and chief executive officer. "PODS distribution model and ease of movement make us one of the best early responders during emergency weather situations and natural disasters."
Helping to rebuild communities is not a new philosophy to the company and its independently-owned and operated franchises. Invented by a former firefighter, the PODS system is used to assist emergency personnel in numerous situations. Select PODS drivers, who undergo special training to help people under stress, are often provided with security clearance reserved for official emergency personnel.
PODS has deployed thousands of containers to areas affected by floods, tornadoes, hurricanes and fires to help in preparation, recovery and rebuilding efforts. In emergency situations, PODS containers can be used to store and transport food, water and medical supplies to impacted areas or as a secure storage option for homeowners and businesses.
