Ventura County Ballet Company shares Cinderella performances with more than 400 local youth

(VENTURA, CA) -- Reaching out to the community and in particular to children, to attend performances is a mission the Ventura County Ballet Company (VCBC) takes to heart. Its most recent production of Cinderella on June 6-7, was no exception.

"We are overjoyed that over 85 percent of the gift vouchers we provided for children at Casa Pacifica and Aspiranet were turned in for a performance," Noblin said. "Many of these children do not have an opportunity to see a ballet or cultural event and we are pleased to have brought this beautiful ballet to our community."

"The children were impressed by a beautiful art form they have never experienced before," said Carrie L. Hughes, assistant director of development at Casa Pacifica in Camarillo. "We are grateful to be able to expand the boundaries of what we can offer our children with the generously donated gift vouchers."

The traditional ballet was brought to life for modern times by choreographer Rodney Gustafson and featured eight professional dancers, including Australian dance star Aaron Smyth as the prince, prima ballerina Jennifer Rowe as Cinderella, and Sergei Domrachev and John Piel as Cinderella´s stepsisters. Pre-professionals students from Ballet Academy Ventura also took the stage in major roles with Hailley Goleta as the Fairy Godmother.
