GOP's Peter King Another Reason to Leave the Republican Party
Leave it to the leadership in the Republican Party to publicly condemn and ridicule American icon and world-wide hero Michael Jackson on the eve of his memorial service.
That's right. At a time when millions and millions of Americans mourn the death of an enormously talented genius, GOP Congressman Peter King (Republican from New York) is seen in a video posted on youtube attacking Michael Jackson and calling him – among other things – a "low life."
The Republican leader goes on to say that Jackson was a "pervert, child molester, and a pedophile." In a confused, sometimes incoherent and illogical statement, King rambled on, "We don't need Michael Jackson. ... The media has disgraced itself. ... What are we glorifying him for?"
Well, Congressman King, the American people don't need you or the Republican Party. It's disgraceful and shameful for you to hold yourself out as better than Michael Jackson. What did you ever do? You are not a hero. You are not a superstar. You are not an American icon. You are not in the same league as Michael Jackson. And you will certainly not remain in the hearts and minds of millions and millions of Americans who loved, cherished, and admired the talent and life of Michael Jackson.
Peter King is yet another unaccomplished do-nothing Republican politician who nobody's ever heard of. Now he's trying to garner his 15 minutes of fame by lying about a great American hero and philanthropist. Shame on you, Peter King. Michael Jackson was the perfect example of a gifted, brilliant, and talented human being with a heart the size of a lion's. Michael did not have to make nasty comments about others to get his "name in lights." Rather, his enormous talent, artistry, and creativity put him there.
Ignorance and Stupidity at the Highest Levels of the GOP
It doesn't seem important to the Republican Congressman that Jackson was acquitted of child molestation charges. King goes on to say that whether or not Jackson was convicted, he can be called a pedophile. And King doesn't even seem to consider what effect his comments might have on Michael Jackson's mother or his family or his fans. He doesn't seem to care that a human being has died and that a nation is devastated at the loss. And the Republican doesn't even seem to care about the heartache suffered by the millions and millions of Americans who looked up to and admired Michael Jackson.
Leaving the Republican Party
So if you are a Republican and are disgusted by yet another desperate GOP leader's ignorant and ill-bred comments, then you should leave the Republican Party immediately. You should write yourself a note that reads "New Voter Registration Card" and place that note where you will see it on your way home from work tomorrow or on your next errand. Then, go to the nearest United States Post Office or library and get a new voter registration card. And get one for your family members or friends. Then re-register as a Democrat, Decline-to-State, or Independent. Do yourself and your country a favor – leave the Republican Party now.
Let's face facts. It's embarrassing and humiliating to be a Republican. Americans are ashamed of GOP leaders like Rush Limbaugh, Bill O'Reilly, and Ann Coulter (who called Democratic Vice Presidential candidate John Edwards a "faggot"). It isn't enough that we had eight years of George Bush's failed presidency, eight years of war in Iraq, eight years of American soldiers dying for a lie, or scandal after scandal (ala GOP Governor Mark Sanford, GOP Senator Larry Craig, or GOP Senator John Ensign). And speaking of Republican scandals, where was Peter King when it was discovered that fellow Republican Mark Foley sent lewd and sexually explicit text messages to teenage Congressional pages while sitting in the U.S. House of Representatives? Well, where were you Congressman King? Hypocrite. Did you know that ABC news reported that on October 5, 2002, Foley invited a 17-year-old page to stay at his home in exchange for "oral sex." The page declined the offer. Where's your youtube video about Mark Foley, Congressman King?
Being a Republican is disgraceful, shameful, stupid, and un-American. GOP Congressman Peter King proves it.
