Betrayal?
This was the gist of the message our President offered to the American people..
A CALL TO ARMS!
No matter that most of the world including some of our allies, counseled caution and definite verification of the existence of such weapons, our President started another unjust war. Based on his declarations, Congress and the people agreed.
We soon discovered that the whole story was nothing but a pack of lies used to justify our invasion of Iraq.
We do have a two-party system in our country. What I do not understand is:
When it became obvious that there was no truth to the Iraq story why did the Democrats go along with this lie? Why didn’t any of our democratic lawmakers ask for an immediate stop to the invasion and recall of our troops? It took a long time for a timid, opposing voice to be heard. Now there is a swell of opposition simply because the American people are sick and tired of the continued slaughter in Iraq.
You don’t have to be a historian to realize that democracy is totally foreign to Islam and its Mullahs. Democracy has to come from a grass-root desire of the people. We can not force Democracy on the Islamic world under the guise of trying to liberate them. Who are we to try and change the nations of Islam that have existed under the same credo for thousands of years? The attempt is so preposterous that only simple-minded, uneducated people can undertake such a venture.
My further disappointment with the “loyal” opposition is that there are still some of them in favor of continuing a war which we have already lost. In the process more young Americans are going to be maimed or will loose their lives.
Democrats wake up and see this conflict for what it is: AN UNJUST WAR!
I feel a deep sense of betrayal by the Democratic Party. By their lack of forceful opposition to this conflict they have become co-conspirators.
