A New Era of American Diplomacy: Obama and the Charismatic Clinton's

Ismail Imadudeen
With a wide charming smile that shines like the sun rise; breaking the ice and binding the ties; it is Secretary Clinton, the Queen of the Obama’s Administration, who could change both the tone and approach of the American foreign policy worldwide (notwithstanding North Korea of course!). Amidst her formal look and serious talks, one can not escape her charisma; a legacy of the Clinton’s; the thing that seems endless and never useless!

The victory achieved by Bill Clinton, on the other side of the picture, in North Korea is yet another example of how diplomacy and tension-free talks can do things in an efficient way, i.e. the US got what it wants done with no cost at all. Then again, it is an illustration of the ever giving Clinton’s, who still have a lot to furnish to America and the American people.

I do not want this to be mistaken as a counter-argument against opposing voices here or there, but, simply a reading on what can be witnessed nowadays, as we can see the ratings go higher than ever in different spots globally. It is the chemical mixture that resulted in a complete turnabout; Obama – Clinton’s “elixir of life” that brought to existence a previously rotting corpse called the American Diplomacy!

A year ago, one did not know anything about the American Diplomacy but a language full of conceit and arrogance; a lot of sticks, but no carrots at all. One-way communication; “whether with us or with the terrorists;” envoys go around the globe with predetermined lists of prohibitive and biased orders and instructions. Even the closest US allies, were never consulted; or even informed of already taken courses of action. But, however, the “eagles” were trapped where they thought they got enough preys! Losses, whether politically, militarily, economically or even strategically, mounted like anything. America never experienced worse time in her modern history than that of the past eight years with an administration that knew everything except how to act like civilized, responsible and insightful people. The “elephants” were relentlessly determined to complete their job with a financial crisis, heavy losses and deteriorating situation in Iraq and Afghanistan and escalation with both the US friends and adversaries worldwide; all alike, not mentioning the awful image that they portrayed, with countless cases of human rights abuses, torture and scandals!

The “eagles” are not anymore around in the White House, but it seems that some of their advocates are still around in the media, in the House of Representatives and/or the Senate trying to spoil an epic, a history-making project, which is in the making, i.e. reshaping America’s image worldwide so as to stop the on going dreadful drain of the American resources, and the alarming threat facing America’s best interests resulting from the previous administration’s erroneous policies; the very epic that Obama and Secretary Clinton are effectively trying to devise, day and night with unyielding efforts all over the planet to get things fixed, or nearly fixed as swiftly and as cost-effective as possible.

Some of them described Obama’s messages in the Muslim world as a kind of “kneeling” or “begging”, without providing a viable alternative in the first place. Secretary Clinton, on the other hand, got criticisms for her remarks about the Israeli illegal settlements in the occupied territories in Palestine. I would like those who criticize her to explain the rationale behind their criticisms, and to tell how could the Israeli illegal settlement boost America’s interests in the Middle East region.

What is happening is apparently the old-new venture of the different lobbies and groups in the US and elsewhere when a man in the White House does not work in their favor, but rather works for the ordinary American citizen.

It has to be understood that everything done by this new administration is for the sake of the disadvantaged allover America, who lost their jobs, their homes, their potentials and, most importantly, their beloved ones elsewhere in the globe.

Yes, getting closer to the Muslim world is in the best interest of the ordinary American citizen, stopping the illegal settlements by Israel on the Palestinian land based on the relevant UN resolutions is in the best interest of the ordinary American citizen, easing relations with previously hostile nations like North Korea and Iran is in the best interest of the ordinary American citizen. America can not stand any escalation anymore; this historical moment requires tactful steps by this administration before we find the American legend gone astray, and the American dream turning to a nightmare!

Keep it up Obama and Secretary Clinton!
