California Democratic Party Leaders Rally Around Laurence Zakson for DNC

Long-time California Democratic Party Rules Committee and Executive Board member Laurence Zakson announced his candidacy August 12 for the vacant male seat in the California delegation to the Democratic National Committee (DNC). The DNC operates as a steering committee for the National Democratic Party between conventions.

Zakson is endorsed by California State Controller John Chiang, California Democratic Party (CDP) Vice Chair Eric Bauman, DNC members Garry Shay, Mary Ellen Early, and Bob "Big Red" Rankin; Regional Directors John Heaner and Karen Wingard; Caucus Chairs Darren Parker, Kess Kessler, Helen Doherty, and Judy Jacobs; Committee Chairs Anna Soto, Coby King, and Donna Patterson; and dozens of other grassroots Democrats and Party activists.

"I´m running to help keep Governor Dean´s 50-state strategy alive and vibrant. As a union-side labor lawyer and former union president, I have dedicated my life to giving voice to the concerns of California´s working people," Zakson said. "I will carry that message with me to the DNC as well as my experience as an attorney for Democratic Central Committees large and small, rural and urban," Zakson continued.

Zakson is General Counsel to the Los Angeles County Democratic Party and conducts educational workshops for Democratic clubs and local unions throughout the state of California.
