FOOD Share asks community to support National Hunger Action Month

Tina Vervoorn
Think you can´t make a difference? FOOD Share, Ventura County´s largest regional food bank, serving more than 40,000 people in need each month, says differently.

(VENTURA COUNTY, CA) September marks Feeding America´s second Hunger Action Month, a national effort to raise awareness in the fight against hunger. The organization encourages food banks across the nation to get behind the effort to help those in need across the nation.

Locally, FOOD Share has partnered with many organizations to combat hunger this fall, each presenting an opportunity for the public to participate, one person, one neighborhood, one corporation at a time.

"We want your spare change and dollar bills," said Bonnie Weigel, CEO of FOOD Share. "Today there are tens of thousands of people who are hungry in Ventura County – and of this number, FOOD Share currently is serving over 40,000 people per month, many who are children."

Join FOOD Share this September. Find a way, no matter how small, to participate and give. For more details, or to participate in a program, visit the website at www.foodshare.com, or call (805) 983-7100.
