Simplicity, Fantasy and Reality

Shirley Roe
Genre: Poetry
Title: Visions of the Soul
Author: Samia Muqueem

Like the thoughts and memories swirling in our minds, Visions of the Soul is a mixture of simplicity and imagination, of reality and fantasy.

Some of the work is simplistic, almost childlike in its rhyme and flow, but the reader finds a deeper meaning as the words seep into our hearts:

Dreams

Like a handful of sand

Capture them before they slip away

A journey through a passage grand,

Beyond the stars slowly sway,

Work for your dreams to come true,

Or they’ll vanish in the blue,

Follow your heart to your dreams

Maybe one day they’ll come true,

Secret wishes a heart desires,

Imagination is all that is required……

Other pieces are profound, heart felt and soul searching

The Illusion of Presence

The illusion of presence

Lingers on

As the lost moment’s perfume

Denies to die

Dawn breaks with a sigh

And silky lonely moonlight

Refuses to say goodbye…….

The work of this poet asks questions of life and gives glimpses of love and frustration. Sweet memories, hours of loneliness, confusion and repression, joy and happiness all blossom in the words of Samia Muqeem like a multicolored garden of emotion. Vivid colors, dark and light that stay in the mind of the reader for days after putting the book down. Haunting words, beautifully presented by a poet with intense emotions.

Author, Samia Muqueem emigrated from Karachi, Pakistan to Toronto, Canada in 2003. She now lives in Windsor, Ontario. Samia has written poetry most of her life and her work appears in several magazines and newspapers.

A most enjoyable read, highly recommended by this reviewer; watch for more from this author. Shirley Roe, Allbooks Reviews.
