New Heroes to Appear on Smallville in Season Nine
Joining Smallville for at least one episode, we'll get to meet Doctor Fate, Stargirl and Hawkman. Hawkman is being played by one of my favorite actors from Stargate SG-1, Michael Shanks. Shanks used to play Daniel Jackson on SG-1 and I'm looking forward to seeing him on Smallville. His cameo in the series premiere of Stargate Universe was far too short and a bit of a throw-away.
The episode is being written by DC comic book writer, Geoof Johns. He also wrote the Justice League episode that Smallville aired last season and that was a pretty big hit. So we can expect good things from this new episode as well.
Sadly we won't get to see this big episode full of DC comic book characters until January. Not that there isn't plenty to watch on Smallville right now. It looks like this season will finally be about Lois and Clark now that Clark Kent has put Lana Lang behind him.
Of course, this isn't the only big news for Smallville during their 9th season. Later we'll also get to see Julian Sands play Jor-El. I think this is going to be a flashback episode as he is supposed to be playing a "young" JOr-El, whatever that means. Also, I nearly forget, Zod is running around creating a fuss this season too. And Clark Kent doesn't even seem to realize yet that he's around and about to start a heap of trouble.
With all these big events happening on Smallville this season, we could even find that this isn't the end for the series. Of all the CW tv shows, Smallville has always remained one of the most popular and so it could wind up airing for a few more years.
