Counties to award Wolk top honor
SACRAMENTO — One of the state´s lead advocacy groups for local government announced today that it will award State Senator Lois Wolk (D-Davis) its highest honor.
The California State Association of Counties (CSAC), which represents counties before the California Legislature, U.S. Congress, state and federal agencies, announced that it will present Wolk with its President´s Award for her work to help counties cope with ongoing fiscal challenges, and for her strong advocacy for the needs of counties in the Delta and throughout the state in water policy debates in the State Legislature.
The honor is given annually to "the individual or organization who has made the most positive contribution to California counties over the past year," according to the CSAC President Gary Wyatt.
"Senator Wolk has consistently proven to be a friend and strong supporter of California counties. She truly understands the many vital programs and services that counties provide to our 38 million residents," Wyatt said. "On issues of importance to California counties, Senator Wolk´s voice has been strong and unwavering inside the Capitol. She is a very deserving recipient of CSAC´s highest award."
The award will be presented during CSAC´s Annual Meeting in Monterey on Wednesday, November 18.
