Separate Vacations Play a Dominant Role in Summer Infidelity

Ruth Houston
Did your spouse or significant other suggested separate vacations this year? According to infidelity expert Ruth Houston, he could be laying the groundwork for having a summer fling. Houston, founder of InfidelityAdvice.com and author of Is He Cheating on You? – 829 Telltale Signs says, “Summer is peak season for infidelity and extramarital affairs. Separate vacations play an integral part in many of these summer affairs. Many men who have been faithful to their partners all year, now eagerly anticipate and actually plan on having a summer fling.“

Houston exposes some of the “separate vacation schemes” summer cheaters use to camouflage their short-term summer affairs.

Summer Homes and Dream Vacations - Some men routinely send their wife and kids to a time share or vacation home for the summer; or treat their girlfriend to a dream vacation she can’t resist. Once their partners are conveniently out of the way, the summer fun begins.

Imaginary Trips – Other summer cheaters carve out time for a summer fling by inventing bogus business trips, counterfeit conventions, or fictitious fishing, camping or rafting trips. Men know that by misrepresenting a trip as a “guys-only" extreme sports or outdoor adventure, it’s unlikely to be questioned by the women in their lives.

Safeguarding Your Relationship from Summer Infidelity

Houston acknowledges that not every man who wants a separate vacation is setting the stage for a summer fling. But she cautions women, “Safeguard your relationship, while giving your husband or boyfriend the benefit of the doubt. The key is this – Don’t make it easy for him to cheat. These men are generally not hard-core cheaters.

If a summer fling looks like more trouble than it’s worth, most of them won’t take the chance.”

Houston suggests a few preventive measures to take, while giving your partner the benefit of the doubt.

Instead of separate vacations, choose a vacation spot where you can both participate in activities of you enjoy. Many resorts have programs for children from infants to teens, leaving you and your husband time to pursue separate pursuits during the day and still enjoy each other’s company at night.

Accompany him to summer conventions, conferences, or on summer business trips.

If he really craves an outdoor adventure, look into one of the many kinds of adventure travel vacations for families or couples.

Stay in the city this year instead of going to your summer home. Send the kids to summer camp. Plan a summer‘s worth of romantic evenings and weekends, or a honeymoon at home.
