Eye on America: Al Parinello of Preserve the American Dream

What is Preserve the American Dream?

www.preservetheamericandream (PAID) is an organization formed out of the frustration of doing what was necessary to achieve my own definition of the "American Dream" (to acquire wealth) only to find out that in the process I have become the enemy. Our motto says it all: The most hated and despised MINORITY in America are wealthy people.

PAID is a place where those who have achieved their own American Dream and others who are pursuing theirs, come to share ideas on how to defeat the many Destroyers of the American Dream (DEAD).

Who does it impact?

The organization started in March, 2007 with only one founding member and has grown to over 4,500 registered members (no fee to join) who are equally frustrated by the hatred and vile of the Destroyers of the American Dream (DEAD) towards the wealthy. Most of our members are small business owners and managers and other contributors who work hard and play by the rules.

Why did you start this organization?

As an entrepreneur and one who was born into poverty, I have built small businesses over the past 30 years that created hundreds of jobs. I did this by working very hard, and playing by all the stipulated rules and laws. I noticed a very intense change however during the time period that coincided with the Clinton administration when suddenly it became much more difficult to run a business and to make a profit. Taxes went up. Fees went up. Lawsuits became annoyingly abundant, courts became wealth re-distribution centers and political correctiveness got in the way of doing business and profiting. In essense, acquiring wealth became more difficult as politicians seemed to go out of their way to punish achievers and reward the takers in society. Small business owners who take all the risk and create 70% of American jobs, suffered silently and most of us who run businesses became truly troubled and confused about what to do about all this.

A few years ago, I sold a business that I began 11 years prior. The business was an FM radio station serving the Jersey Shore (Atlantic City) and I profited to the extent that I had a tax bill somewhere between one and two million dollars. I worked with my CPA and attorney to assure that every penny was paid on time. Nine months later when the State of New Jersey sent me yet another tax bill.....this one for 20 cents, (You read that right) I knew it was time to fight back. Incidentally, New Jersey also demanded over $750.00 interest on that 20 cents. That's 270,000% interest. That's also when the idea for PreserveTheAmericanDream.com was formed and I've worked tirelessly ever since. Since Mid June, I've interviewed on over 40 radio stations throughout the country. After an interview I will get many emails and telephone calls saying that the listeners have felt the same rage against liberal politicians who want to punish them for their success. The support is overwhelming.

What do you see is the solution?

That's simple. Elect politicians who get it and support the concept of The American Dream, so that it remains alive for our children and theirs. That means smaller government and lower taxes. It also means incentives and rewards for companies that create jobs. A flat tax or something like it is absolutely necessary. We now have 4,500 people nationwide telling the truth to as many people who will listen. It's so easy to put down the wealthy. But the wealthy start the businesses that employ the masses. They pay the taxes that create the infrastructure that we all use. They take the risks so that the masses don't have to. It's time to understand the worth and value of the wealthy among us.

Also, It's time to tax income earners equally. Today the top 1% pays over 37% of all income taxes. The top 10% pays about 70%. The top 40% pays just about 100% of all the income taxes in America. That's crazy. About 60% of working Americans pays NO income taxes. Not one red cent! Capitalism is under attack. This move towards fiscal socialism, where the few pay most of the taxes has got to

cease. PreserveTheAmericanDream.com will see to it that it does. We are growing and we will do what is necessary to protect the American Dream.
