Tucker Carlson, Ron Paul, and Pat Buchanan

Mark Anderson
I have been meaning to write this note of thanks to Tucker Carlson for a long time. Readers are free to post this note from me to Tucker Carlson everywhere and anywhere, providing a link back to this page.

Dear Tucker:

I appreciate your objectivity and fairness in covering Ron Paul. Given the overall record of the MSM, that doesn't really say much, though. I guess the MSM has to air at least a few germs of truth, for the simple sake of trying to achieve some level of palatability.

I do have a little bit of a problem with one of the stunts you pulled. After you drug your friend - i.e., that pimp up in Reno - to a Ron Paul press conference, getting your friend to endorse Ron Paul, your own colleagues on MSNBC then asked Ron Paul about this "supporter" of his. The rest of the MSM also picked up on the story. Mind you, this was your friend and your stunt, saying a lot more about you than it did about Ron Paul.

How "tricky" that is for the media to report about something one of its own members did, trying to make Ron Paul look bad. Ron Paul answered the questions very well. He pointed out that just because he endorses freedom, doesn't mean he endorses what everybody does with their freedom.

But that said, I wanted to tell you, Tucker, how thankful I am to you. I owe you, Tucker. Let me explain.

In the fall of 1999, Pat Buchanan left the Republican Party, to pursue the Reform Party nomination. I worked as a volunteer on Buchanan's Minnesota steering committee.

It was in - I believe - October of 1999, when Pat Buchanan visited Minnesota. I chauffeured Pat from his hotel to his book signing. Later that same day, me and a friend, who was also on the steering committee, chauffeured Pat's wife Shelly to the news station to be with Pat. In the evening, Pat held a rally with many people in attendance.

After the rally was over, me and my friend led the convoy leading Pat, his wife, and two of his aides from the national campaign, back to the hotel. It was a five star hotel. Me and my friend from the state steering committee personally carried some of Pat's luggage up to his hotel room.

The reason why I am writing about all of this, Tucker, is because when me and my friend from the steering committee got back to my place, we turned on the television to watch some of the cable news programs. In fact, we watched you talking about Pat Buchanan.

Paying very careful attention to the coverage of Pat, as we always did, we both sat there and listened to you explain how Pat "never traveled" without his sister Bay. You then proceeded to explain how Pat is controlled by Bay, and that he stays in sleazy and cheap motels, because Bay won't allow anything else.

Having just came from dropping Pat's luggage off at his five star hotel room, and knowing that Pat came into town with his wife and two aides from national, without Bay, me and my friend sat there feeling astonished. Earlier that same day, we had both personally witnessed the exact opposite of your attempted smear job on Pat.

I must say that every time I watch you on television with Pat Buchanan, I can't help but remember this. I've always wondered how Pat would have reacted if he had seen what you said about him. That night back in October of 1999, Pat went up to his hotel room and went to bed. He never even knew what you said about him, and never had a chance to respond. Maybe you should tell him about this sometime, Tucker.

This is why I thank you, Tucker Carlson. I thank you because it was after that when I no longer looked at the MSM the same way. You helped me purge what misplaced trust I once had for the MSM. Thank you, Tucker.

Cordially,

Mark Anderson
