First of all, stop looking for the magic pill that is going to make you lose weight and keep it off. It took you a little while to pack on those extra pounds and it's going to take some time to take them off. The only true way to lose weight and keep it off is by dietary changes and exercise.
Starving yourself is not the answer to weight loss. When you skip meals, you are actually slowing down your body's fat burning process. The key to weight loss is to increase the amount of meals that you eat each day. That's right, to lose weight you need to eat more, within reason, of course.
Eating four to six small meals a day will do several things for your body. First, it will increase your metabolism to help your body burn more fat. When your body is able to burn fat, then you will lose weight faster.
Secondly, several small meals will make you feel less hungry throughout the day. If you don't feel hungry, you will be less likely to cheat by eating things that you shouldn't. Small meals will make you feel more satisfied and help you to stick to your weight loss plan.
Eating smaller meals will also allow your stomach pouch to shrink a little. This will make it so less food will fill you up. If you learn to eat smaller portions and learn to stop when you start to feel satisfied, you will lose weight.
When you become stressed, turn to exercise instead of food. Exercise will reduce your stress level a lot better than food because it releases endorphins into your system. These chemicals are a natural pain killer and mood enhancer. The feeling that you get from endorphin release can be addicting and you may want to exercise even more to get this feeling.
It is important that you start planning your daily meals. Decide what you are going to eat before you start your day. Pack your lunch the night before and write down any snacks and meals that you will be eating for the day. This will give you a plan of attack and help you to avoid temptation.
