HOW TO BE A BRAND NEW SPUNKY OLD BROAD by Gayle Carson

It's your job to go out and educate other Spunky Old Broads so we can make this world a happier and better place. It's up to you and the people you meet to spread this message.

First you need to have achieved the goals you set out for yourself at the beginning of your journey. At least have them in motion.

We live in an interesting and exciting time, but there are many challenges as well. Just think of the impact you can have if you decide to make a positive change in someone's life every day. It's extremely amazing and powerful.

Tackle just one area for yourself and someone else. Initially, take care of yourself and then figure out a way to help another person or cause. You can set the world on fire if you take on something you are passionate about.

And that's what S.O.B.'s are all about. I have met women in the 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's and even 90's who have taken on events and causes that seemed impossible. And the impact they have had is incredible. It has always amazed me how much influence just one individual can have once they get the ball rolling.

You probably have had a brilliant brainstorm at one time or another, and may not have been able to take advantage of it immediately. That's why you should journal and write down your inspirations and the things you'd like to see, read, participate in or join.

Enjoy being with yourself. Laugh out loud every day, by yourself and with someone. Laughter gives you vitality to help you deal with what's going on around you and helps you overlook the negatives. It's infectious and helps put sunshine in your life by laughing at yourself and sunshine in other's lives by sharing your sense of humor.

Participate in activities that challenge and stretch you. Go to places beyond where you've been before. Make new friends and enjoy them for who they are, not what they might give you. This is the first step in re-inventing yourself. Age disappears in our minds when there are things to do, friends to share with and a progression to our daily living.

I know it's easier to leave things as is. It may be less complicated, but it isn't the S.O.B. way.

Don't spread yourself too thin. You may have the capacity to do a great deal at once, but you are the only person who can judge your ability to juggle one obligation against another. Don't take on more than you can handle.

If you ever get to a breaking point, you will certainly know it. That's when you have to make a decision as to how and what you will do next. You may have to ask people to give you more space and expect less from you. But when most people find out how important your routine is to you and know you plan to stick to it, they respect you for it.

You'll be amazed how a 1% improvement can change your outlook, your level of achievement, your commitment and your spirit. S.O.B.'s always practice the good while continually improving and learning. When that stops, you’re no longer an S.O.B. or at least, not one who can kick butt.

Keeping strong and prepared will inevitably present itself as a key to survival. No one can live your life or knows what works for you but you. Do what you need to, so you can enjoy the bliss.

When things look like they might fall apart, go back to the basics and prioritize. Set your parameters and stick to them. Just remember, there is a light at the end of every tunnel.

Being an S.O.B. is a continuous journey, not a destination.
