PASADENA, Calif. The historic Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, California has welcomed champions from Seabiscuit to Secretariat to its legendary racetrack and stables. But on Saturday evening, June 21, the renowned landmark will host a different kind of thoroughbred – culinary stars who place first in the kitchen rather than at the finish line – when Rosemary Children´s Services (RCS) presents its 45th annual An Evening with Star Chefs gala fundraiser.

Supporters who attend the gala event, which will take place from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., will sample dishes prepared by acclaimed chefs from the following Los Angeles-area restaurants: 561; Angelena´s; Barn Burner; Castle Catering; Celestino Ristorante; Choctal Ice Cream; Dona Rosa; El Cholo; Firefly Bistro; FrontRunner; Il Fornaio; Madeleine´s Restaurant and Wine Bistro; McCormick and Schmick´s; Mi Piace; Pasadena Baking Company; the Dining Room at the Langham; Twin Palms; The Westin; and Whole Foods. Joining them, too, are representatives from 4 Copas Tequila; Miller Brewing Company; Mission Wine and Spirits; and Peet´s Coffee and Tea.

"Come hungry and thirsty," advises Sandy Harris, chairman of the Star Chefs committee. "I never know quite where to start because there are so many booths, filled with so many tempting dishes and drinks to sample. I cast caution – and my diet – to the winds because it´s for a great cause."

Proceeds raised from An Evening with Star Chefs – which also includes a silent auction and opportunity drawing for two round trip tickets to Hawaii, as well as dancing under the stars – will benefit the Rosemary School, the agency´s non public school for teenage girls.

"Every year, at our June graduation ceremony, I hear so many moving and inspiring success stories – from both our graduates and faculty members," says Tamika Farr, Director of Development. "The money we raise will help ensure that our girls continue to experience these stories and embark with confidence upon exciting new chapters in college or the workplace."

"The kids served by Rosemary Children´s Services need to be reminded that they are not the forgotten kids of our society," adds Michaela Pereira of "KTLA Morning News." The award winning co-anchor – who herself comes from a family of five adopted children – is returning, for a second year, to serve as Master of Ceremonies of Star Chefs.

"I grew up in a small rural town," Pereira continues. "There weren't a lot of adopted children where I was. It was a different time and those kinds of services weren't available. Fortunately I was brought into a loving home early on in life. So many kids aren't as lucky...it's those children who are most in need of the services RCS provides."

Helping to provide those services is a vast array of volunteers. "We often refer to Star Chefs as a constellation because so many brilliant, talented and generous people take part in making it the breathtaking creation it is," says Farr. "When it comes to people like Michaela, our chefs, our sponsors, our friends and our volunteers, I can´t thank them enough. They shine so brightly that the children we serve can´t help but bask in their glow and shine too."
