Book Review: Recovering From Loss by Sid Waterman
Counselors have a very important work, but are limited to the depth of healing they can provide. "Recovering from Loss" centers on the work of the Holy Spirit, without dissuading sufferers to seek help from skilled therapy. However, those who are broken need the healing power and peace which comes from God.
This is the reason for Sid Waterman´s work. As the author states," His (the Holy Spirit´s) gracious and supernatural power is available to those who come to him in humble faith."
The book begins with Sid´s personal story of loss- the death of his father and the despair he felt during this time. Then, he shares the story of a mother who lost her daughter in a tragic fire. With the help of the Holy Spirit, this grieving woman found healing.
Important in recovery are other topics covered in chapters titled," There is No Right or Wrong Way to Grieve," "Dealing with Doubt, Fear and Guilt," "God has a Purpose for Your Life," and others. Full of true stories of pain that will resonate with readers, "Recovering from Loss" provides sound advice and real solutions.
The book digs deep into Biblical wisdom and even explores unresolved issues that may be lurking from the past. It´s obvious from this book that Mr. Waterman has provided Godly counsel that has blessed many anguished people.
Waterman succinctly closes his book with chapters on prayer. If anyone understands pain, betrayal, and agony, it´s Jesus.
"Recovering from Loss" is written from years of experience in counseling and watching the healing work of the Comforter. I recommend this book.
