Alien and UFO proof – "I want to believe" but who?

Ian Brockwell
Since the recent interview with Dr. Edgar Mitchell hit the news, claiming Aliens and UFOs exist, there have been many more such reports appearing (something of an avalanche!). Each one offering some unique "secret" and the majority using this "information" as a promotional tool for their latest book!

Whilst I don´t doubt for a moment that the government are up to their necks in secrets (a blind man could see this), and that they are aware of the existence of Aliens and UFOs, probably concealing this knowledge for more than 60 years, I have a question....

Many of the reports that we are reading about just lately have attacked the government for keeping this information a secret, for being involved in a cover-up. Yet the people making these claims admit that they have been aware of this for a very long time and many of them (but not all) have only now decided to share this "stunning" information with us. Why?

Aren´t the people who withhold the "truth" guilty of supporting those who try to conceal it? If you witnessed a murder and said nothing, what would that make you?

Yes, I know some of you are going to say "He couldn´t reveal the information sooner because someone might have killed him!" This may be true, but don´t you find it odd that the prospect of a "best seller" seems to make them feel much braver?

I´m not saying that the information they have is false and that they are lying, I am questioning their reasons for discussing this subject at all. Do they truly want to enlighten others with their knowledge and help us to believe, or are they simply interested in making money from it? What would you think of some respected religious leader who said "I have proof that God really exists and I have known about this for 40 years. Read my book and you can find out more"?

Some people have suggested that I should accept the word of people like Dr. Mitchell without question, because he is an "astronaut" and a "great American" I am not doubting Dr. Mitchell, but the information he is providing comes from other sources (not his own). Are they trustworthy, and why don´t they reveal this information themselves?

An astronaut (who supports his friend Mitchell) backs up the claims by Dr. Mitchell (CLICK HERE to read this article) and also says he has personally seen an Alien. However, he concludes his statement by saying he is ready to tell his story for compensation (money). Another astronaut (who also says he is a friend of Dr. Mitchell) has a completely different (and negative) opinion of Mitchell´s story. Who should we believe? The one that agrees with our hopes or the one that doesn´t?

And how reliable is "reliable"? In the news recently I read about the BBC being fined around $800,000 "for faking competition winners and deceiving viewers on a string of radio and flagship television programmes." Who would have believed that the BBC could have been involved in such a thing, where "production teams encouraged listeners to enter competitions even though they had no chance of winning" The BBC have (but not now) been considered one of the most honest news suppliers in the world! If corruption and lies can touch an organization like this, who else?

Because of our strong desire to be convinced that Aliens exist, we have been prepared to accept almost any information that has been thrown at us, without asking the simple question "Is it true?" or asking if there is some other motive behind it? We do the same in politics, believing that we really do have a choice in who we elect, when in truth we must choose the candidates that have been selected for us (by people who don´t care which one wins!)

Not all articles are designed to make us believe, some attempt to do just the opposite. Take the recent article by Emily Friedman called "Out of Space or Out of Mind" The very title infers that Dr. Mitchell is some crazy person and this is outrageous! The author seems to suggest that those who have traveled in Space can be mentally affected by the experience.

This is a good example of the "extremes" that you find on this subject. Some will believe the claims that people make and some will not, no matter who presents the information, how and why. My task is to try and correct this imbalance (if I can).

The sort of articles I prefer to see are the ones that report the "facts" as they have been received and let the reader decide what might be true or not. Once such article by Nick Pope called "Unidentified Flying Threats" does just that. It refers to actual sightings that have been officially reported and relays the information to the reader. Obviously, Nick is hoping that this information will help to support the possibility of Alien life (which it does!), but he is not asking you to accept his word for it. Nick has also written a book! (Which is mentioned at the bottom of his article), but at least it was mentioned in a more subtle way :-)

Also in the news: "Gary McKinnon - 'world's most dangerous hacker' - to be extradited" This is about a British man who hacked into computers at the Pentagon and said he was merely searching for evidence of extraterrestrial life. He doesn´t seem to have been financially motivated for hacking the computers and perhaps really was looking for evidence of ET. Unfortunately, his curiosity may cost him a very long stretch in a US prison. Personally, I think they should thank him for exposing their poor security and consider themselves lucky it was not a "terrorist" that did this.

I received an email from a man recently who couldn´t seem to understand why I seek "real" proof of Alien and UFO existence. For those of you who think the same, let me say this. If you choose to accept the word of other people without question or proof, that is your choice, I do not (it is called FREE SPEECH). We have been reading about this for more than 60 years and despite all the claims that "I have proof!" the fact is we haven´t received sufficient proof to eliminate all the doubts. I´m sorry, but the word of person I have never met (or have no knowledge of), or fuzzy pictures of enlarged dots in the sky doesn´t do it for me!

So, instead of trying to convert me (and others) into accepting information on "faith", give me something that I and everyone else can believe in. Believing that Aliens and UFOs exist is not a problem for me, I feel certain that they do. What is more interesting is where are they, and what are they doing here?

In the meantime, let´s continue speculating over the reports that we hear about. Don´t be afraid to report a sighting (these are important) or conceal the secrets of others who want to keep the human race in darkness. The truth will come, but let´s not make fools of ourselves by being impatient. The truth you seek is nearer than you think, but it won´t appear in a book or in those "knowledgeable" whispers you see on the internet. The proof will be unmistakably clear when it arrives, and you will doubt no more!
