What´s with the Monkey Doll? Are McCain supporters saying Black people are monkeys?
This incident – for which the McCain Palin campaign has yet to apologize – symbolizes the depth of repugnancy that McCain will stoop to win an election he does not deserve. If the McCain Palin monkey doll scandal isn´t enough to make you vomit, note the following additional examples of blatant racism featured at recent McCain Palin rallies:
>> Supporters called Senator Obama a "terrorist" while others yelled, "Kill him!"
>> A woman claimed that Barack Obama is an Arab and a Muslim. (Senator Obama is not an Arab; he is a Christian.)
>> A man called Senator Obama a "hooligan."
>> Gov. Sarah Palin told her audience that Senator Obama "…tried to influence negotiations with Iraqi leaders in a way that would set back America´s cause there while advancing his campaign here. …" See NYT article.
None of these incidents have attracted much attention in the main stream media, which is decidedly Right-Wing. The incidents have, however, gained moderate attention among bloggers, primarily because the vast majority of Americans are registered Democrats who reject the racism that has come to define the Republican Party. For example, note the following:
Out of a total of 435 elected members of the U.S. House of Representatives not one is both Black and Republican. Not one. Out of a total of 100 members of the U.S. Senate, not one is both Black and Republican. Not one. Every – yes, every – African American Member of Congress is a member of the Democratic Party. And, as we all know, in order to be elected to the United States Congress, a candidate must first be nominated by his political party. Only Republicans vote in Republican Party primaries.
Here's another link to the McCain supporter showing off his racist monkey doll with the Obama sticker to fellow Republicans as they enter the venue. In the video, the McCain supporter is cheered on by other McCain supporters even as hundreds of pro-Obama protesters voice their horror.
And for the record, here are a few GOP Icons representing the Republican Culture of Corruption: Ted Stevens from Alaska, Mark Foley, Karl Rove, Randy "Duke" Cunningham, Bob Ney, Tom DeLay, Scooter Libby, J. Steven Giles, Bill Frist, Curt Weldon, Dennis Hastert,
So there you have it, America. Supporters of John McCain and Sarah Palin want you to think that Senator Barack Obama is an "Arab terrorist" who should be "killed" and who – because he´s black – should remind you of a monkey. Think about that, and then go vote.
