Britney Spears – "She´s back!" as predicted

Ian Brockwell
In March 2007, when Britney´s career and life seemed dangerously close to ending, many had already written her off. She appeared to be on a course of self destruction and completely out of control.

The media no longer talked about her music, but about her drunken visits to nightclubs, shaving her hair and forgetting to put on some underwear. But that´s what sells stories, so we shouldn´t expect any different I suppose.

In my article at the time (Britney Spears - Not yet a woman?) I wrote the following:

It is easy for us to be critical of such actions, but perhaps we forget sometimes that her fame came at an early age and at a time when most of us are discovering ourselves. We have to try and imagine how our own lives would have been, if we had become equally famous at her age, living a life without any secrets.

Like many other celebrities that have obtained their fame at a young age, she was unable to experience the steps to becoming an adult in the same way others do.

Hopefully, she will learn from her mistakes and the experience will make her stronger and wiser. She is going to need plenty of help over the next few months to adjust to the recent changes in her life, and time to catch up on some of those lost years.

I think, if all goes well, Britney´s fans will see her make a very successful comeback. But don´t be surprised if this time you see a different image, new music, and a woman!

21 months later, despite a few "shaky" attempts to return to the spotlight, she has finally made a successful comeback.

Her new album "Circus" has debuted at No. 1 in the United States and five other countries, and made the top 10 in seven other countries, including Britain where it opened at No. 4.

The album is getting good reviews and The New York Times was quoted as saying "her new songs are crisp, cunning dance-pop."

Britney Spears will begin her World tour in March next year (exactly 2 years after the lowest point in her life and her first tour in 5 years). Her promoters have added another 12 shows to the itinerary because of the demand for tickets.

Perhaps part of her successful return may be due to her father, who is still her conservator. She is no longer controlled by those who helped to take her down the wrong path and she is almost like a person who has been rescued from a cult.

Hopefully, she has matured sufficiently over the last year or so to avoid any return to the dark times, and we will see her continue this remarkable comeback. It is also hoped that Britney won´t be in any rush to find a new partner, and when she does it won´t be someone like Federline.

Whilst Britney´s fans will welcome her return and her music, I suspect that in a few years from now we shall see her career moving more towards acting (something she has already experimented with). It would not surprise me to see her become even more famous in this field. Maybe I shall be reminding you of this "prediction" later as well?
