TV or not TV? That is the question

Ian Brockwell
There is a very real belief that the public are being "brainwashed" in some way, but it is uncertain whether the cause of this is television, something in the food and water supply, prescribed drugs or a mixture of all of these.

My personal feeling is that TV is the main culprit, what else can be controlling the public so successfully?

I would imagine many will react to this suggestion by saying "What rubbish! I havenīt heard anything on the TV about that!" and if you do say that, what further proof do you need?

Humor me for a moment, letīs imagine you were being controlled in some way through television, would you be able to tell? Are you sure the products you are buying are your choice, or have you been told (subconsciously) to purchase them? Do you truly believe your government is doing its best for you, or have you been given a suggestion that makes you accept whatever happens without complaining?

Is it a coincidence that the less people watch TV, the more they question the things that are going on around them? Could it be they simply have more time to look at what is happening in the world, or is there a more sinister reason?

Talking of time, couldnīt the hours spent watching television be put to better use? For a person watching 3 hours of television every day, they are losing 45 days of their life every year. During an average lifetime that is more than 11 years!!!

The Unexplained Explored

Life is short enough, why waste it sitting in front of a television, watching biased news, violent films and "reality" shows?

Whatever the purpose behind television (entertainment or mind control), the intention of the people who provide the programs are to get you to watch as much as possible. Like many soda drinks, the ingredients are not meant to just taste nice (and certainly not to quench your thirst), but to make you want (or need) more!

Maybe the idea is to distract you from the more serious problems that are happening around us? Whatever the reason, watching television is bad for you. It either wastes a huge amount of your life, distracts you from the real world, or enables people to brainwash you for other purposes.

And if you are still wondering why you havenīt heard about the dangers on the TV or in the mainstream media, ask yourself who is behind your addiction. Would Coca Cola tell you their product is bad for you (for example) and lose millions of dollars in sales? Do cigarette companies offer to close down their factories because smoking is a health risk?

Iīm sure you are telling yourself "I donīt have to watch television, I could stop any time, but I donīt want to!" Doesnīt that sound like the person who is addicted to gambling or drinking, and a poor attempt to convince yourself that you are in control? Could you really stop watching TV, even for a month? Why not try it?
