The Cameron Mackintosh/Really Useful Theatre Company, Inc. production of Andrew Lloyd Webber´s THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, directed by Harold Prince, will return for the first time to the Pantages Theatre in Hollywood in over a decade. This engagement of PHANTOM also marks the opening of Broadway/L.A.´s 2009 Season at the Pantages Theatre, where Wicked has been in residence for the past two years.

The winner of seven Tony® Awards, including Best Musical, THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA has been seen by over 80 million people in 124 cities in 25 countries. Worldwide, the show consistently plays to larger audiences and in longer engagements than any other musical in history. On January 9, 2006, THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA became the longest-running show in Broadway history surpassing Cats´ record-holding run of 7,485 performances. The show celebrated an unprecedented milestone on January 26, 2008 when it reached its twentieth anniversary on Broadway.
Based on the classic novel Le Fantôme de l´Opéra by Gaston Leroux, THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA tells the story of a masked figure who lurks beneath the catacombs of the Paris Opera House, exercising a reign of terror over all who inhabit it. He falls madly in love with an innocent young soprano, Christine, and devotes himself to creating a new star by nurturing her extraordinary talents and by employing all of the devious methods at his command.
THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA had its world premiere on October 9, 1986 at Her Majesty´s Theatre in London, winning every major British theatre award including the Olivier and Evening Standard Awards. The New York production opened on January 26, 1988 with a then-record advance of $18 million. The musical went on to sweep the 1988 Tony Awards, winning seven, including Best Musical. THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA also won seven Drama Desk Awards and three Outer Critics Circle Awards. The original London cast recording was the first in British musical history to enter the charts at number one. It has since gone both gold and platinum in Britain and the United States, selling over 25 million copies.
John Cudia (The Phantom of the Opera) returns to the National Tour after recently completing a successful run as The Phantom on Broadway. His Broadway credits include both Phantom and Les Misérables. In fact, John holds the distinct honor of being the first and only actor to have performed as both The Phantom and Jean Valjean on Broadway. John recently played Jean Valjean in the highly successful production of Les Misérables at The Marriott Theatre in Chicago, where his performance earned him a Joseph Jefferson Award nomination. John earned his BA from Fordham University. His credits include leading roles at The Paper Mill Playhouse, North Shore Music Theater, Pioneer Theater, Portland Stage, St. Louis Reparatory, Casa Manana, Westchester Broadway and The Carousel Theatre. In concert, John has made several appearances in The Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber for Jeffrey Finn Productions and was a featured tenor soloist with the Orchestra of St. Peter by the Sea in his home state of New Jersey. John is happily married to Broadway actress Kathy Voytko.
Trista Moldovan (Christine Daaé) is delighted to join the U. S. National Tour of The Phantom of the Opera. Most recently, she had the honor of working with Julie Andrews in the John Bucchino musical Simeon´s Gift. She also appeared as ´Cosette´ in the regional premiere of Les Misérables at the Pioneer Theater Company. Off-Broadway/NYC: Sally in Me and My Girl (Musicals Tonight), Rachel in Paul Revere (Theatreworks) and Seffa in Faces of War (Makor Center). Regional credits: Gypsy (Louise), Nine (Carla), Born Yesterday (Billie Dawn), Carousel (Julie) and Cabaret (Sally). Television: "The Guiding Light," "All My Children" and "As the World Turns." Trista is a proud graduate of the Baldwin-Wallace Conservatory of Music.
Kyle Barisich (Raoul, Vicomte de Chagny). returns to this production of Phantom after making his Broadway debut with the New York company earlier this year. A graduate of USC, Kyle moved to New York and received his Masters degree in voice from the Manhattan School of Music, and later studied acting at the famed Esper Studio. Regional credits include: South Pacific at the Hollywood Bowl, Barrett in Titanic, Wolf/Prince in Into the Woods, Will Parker in Oklahoma!, Bare, and Behind the Limelight. Together with television writer Genna Yaitanes, he created the long-running off-Broadway show A Touch of Vegas, which earlier played at the Cinegrill in Hollywood. He is occasionally asked to do the audience warm-up for "Live with Regis and Kelly". Kyle is a winner of the prestigious Lotte Lenya/Kurt Weill Competition and is also a published food writer in New York City.

THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA features music by Andrew Lloyd Webber with lyrics by Charles Hart and additional lyrics by Richard Stilgoe. Book is by Richard Stilgoe and Andrew Lloyd Webber. Musical orchestrations are by David Cullen and Andrew Lloyd Webber. Production is directed by Harold Prince with musical staging and choreography by Gillian Lynne. Scenic and costume designs are by Maria Björnson with lighting design by Andrew Bridge and sound design by Martin Levan.
The performance schedule for THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA is Tuesday through Friday at 8pm, Saturday at 2pm & 8pm, and Sunday at 1pm & 6:30pm. There will be two specially-priced Thursday matinee performances during the run, on January 22nd and February 19th at 2pm.
Single tickets for regular performances will range in price from $29.50-$85.00, with premium seating packages also available. The evening preview performances on January 21-22 are priced from $26.50 to $66.50. Special low-priced tickets are also available for the two Thursday matinee performances, with tickets ranging from just $19.50 to $54.50.
