Support Employers Who Provide Good Jobs
LA Labor 411, a collaborative project of the Los Angeles County Federation of Labor, AFL-CIO and Senders Communication Group, today announced the launch of the on-line version of its guide to Southern California union goods and services. Coming on the heels of its print version launch last summer, the on-line version of the directory will make the listings for companies and organizations more accessible to everyone wanting to patronize union-related products/services and union-preferred vendors.
The on-line version of LA Labor 411 is located at http://www.LALabor411.com/directory or www.launionaflcio.org and includes company information for hotels and conference/performance venues; healthcare facilities and providers; TV stage and film production; financial, insurance, pension/benefits, political consulting, and communications professionals; building trades apprenticeship programs; building trades signatories; developers; continuing education facilities; printers; unionized utilities and service providers; labor and community allies; and various consumer products and services.
Background
Since its inception in 2008, the LA Labor 411 project has been committed to leveraging the collective buying power of the Los Angeles County Federation of Labor´s 800,000 unionized workers to make Southern California middle class stronger and to reward companies dedicated to improving working conditions and raising the standard of living for L.A.´s workers. According to the Economic Roundtable, it is estimated that in 2007, L.A.´s union members generated $51 billion in total sales due to spending.
Over 5,000 copies of the inaugural print version of LA Labor 411 directory were distributed in July 2008. The first directory of its kind, LA Labor 411 was unanimously well received by hundreds of local labor unions across Southern California, by national AFL-CIO officials, by city, state and federal elected representatives as well as by the many community organizations aligned with Los Angeles labor movement.
This year LA Labor 411 will be building on its successful launch by increasing editorial coverage in health care, member benefits, pension management, apprenticeship programs and many other areas of vital importance to the hundreds of organizations affiliated with the Los Angeles County Federation of Labor.
The 2009 print edition of LA Labor 411 is scheduled for distribution in mid 2009. For more information, or to order a copy of the current 2008 print version go to http://www.lalabor411.com.
