Interview with Mystery Thriller Author John Knoerle on New Book A Pure Double Cross

John Knoerle´s first novel, Crystal Meth Cowboys, was optioned by Fox for a TV series. His second novel, The Violin Player, won the Mayhaven Award for Fiction. His new novel, A Pure Double Cross, is Book One of the American Spy Trilogy. John lives with his wife in Chicago.

We interviewed John to find out more about his new book, A Pure Double Cross, and his life as a published author.

Thank you for this interview, John. Can you tell us briefly what your latest book, A Pure Double Cross, is all about?

It is Book One of a Trilogy that follows Hal Schroeder, a young OSS spy who returns from World War II bitter and cynical. He is recruited by the FBI to infiltrate the Cleveland mob. But Hal has other ideas.

Can you tell us who or what was the inspiration behind your book?

I wanted to try to combine the spy and mystery genres, and I wanted to explore the concepts of trust and loyalty.

Is this your first published book and if so, can you tell us your experiences in finding a publisher for it?

It is my third published book.

Do you have an agent?

I do. He is an old friend. But I have worked with other agents as well. Agents aren´t a panacea for a writing career but there is no other way I know of to reach mainstream publishers.

Do you have any words of inspiration from other writers who would like to be wearing your shoes?

If you believe in your talent you don´t need any words of inspiration.

I understand that you are touring with Pump Up Your Book Promotion in March via a virtual book tour. Can you tell us all why you chose a virtual book tour to promote your book online?

I have just turned 60 years old. But even this old man knows that the web is where the future of book promotion resides.

What´s next for you?

Book Two of the American Spy Trilogy, A Despicable Profession, will be published in about a year.
