For e.g. words like bun, bread etc. The stories should be picture based so that they can actually relate with the help of the depiction. The stories of valor, virtues are very much liked by them.

Compulsory reading habits cannot be inculcated. To make children love reading it is important to initially show them picture books or nursery rhyme books and set them in a read aloud mode. Parents or care givers can read it to them in a casual way and this is best way to keep them entertained. Initially they may not understand but they may try to form words.

It is important for us to read to the child a small paragraph each day and let them read familiar words. It is surprising that they pick things fast but at the same time repetition is important to keep them memory strong. Distractions have to be minimum and the room should aid reading with the right ambience. Bed time stories are loved by children and most parents find this as an easy way to bond with the child.
