Gathering Storm Commercial by National Organization for Marriage Promotes Bigotry

Christian Church
Did you see that recent commercial promoting bigotry and violence against gays and lesbians? It is filled with lie after lie intended to legitimize discrimination.

Itīs called "Gathering Storm" and itīs produced by a little known but abhorrent hate group claiming to be Christian called the National Organization for Marriage (NOM). Apparently, itīs Director, Damon Owens, and the organizationīs members despise gay people simply because a few states have allowed same-sex couples to get married.

In my opinion, Damon Owen, is not a Christian. And Iīm sure his gay relatives and neighbors donīt believe heīs a Christian either.

Everyone knows that lies and misinformation spread about gays contributes to increased violence against them. Many gays and lesbians have been murdered because of these lies. Others have been bashed.

And while these people are quick to purport that they are Christian and pro-family, we know that they are not. People who hate as much as Owen does, are not Christian. People who hate as much as the supporters of NOM do, are not pro-family.

I guess that Owen and the Christian actors in this commercial want to see an increase in violence against their lesbian and gay relatives. Letīs face it – at least one of the actors in that commercial must have a gay son or daughter who may one day become the victim of violence because of their lies. I guess itīs a good thing that commercials such as these will live on forever in cyberspace to document the intolerance so that these hate-mongers are remembered for all time. When Damon Owensī homosexual grandchildren or great-grandchildren view his commercial, they will be ashamed of him.

By producing this false, misleading, and violence legitimizing ad, the National Organization for Marriage has aligned itself with other organizations that promote hatred against gay people, including the Ku Klux Klan and the Taliban.

I wonder if Owen and NOM want homosexual Mary Cheney, the daughter of conservative Republican and former Vice President, Dick Cheney, to become the victim of discrimination.

If youīre reading this and if you know who any of the actors are in the commercial, you can identify them and provide the names of their employers in the comments section below the video. I know that if I had a co-worker or a neighbor who was anti-gay or who participated in a commercial that could potentially result toward an increase in violence against lesbians and gays, well, I would want to know.
