Owen is 'Back,' so is Swank and 'Saw' Turns 6
Oscar-bait
"Amelia"
Amelia Earhart and her Lockheed L-10 Electra disappeared in 1937, but her legacy lives on as a female aviator who swooped and soared to inspire other women to reach for their own wings. Now Oscar- winner Hilary Swank, who bears a striking resemblance to Earhart, gives us a story worth watching even though we know how it tragically ends.
Family-friendly
"Astro Boy"
All the kiddos who will enjoy this flick have no idea its origins date to early '50s Japanese manga. That all doesn't matter, really, because it offers a robot kid who fights for good with a gee-whiz arsenal that includes, yes, machine guns. Beat that, Pinocchio.
Torture porn
"Saw VI"
My guess is if "Saw" fans paid to see the five other gorefests, then there's probably not much of a surprise here -- just lots of blood.
Tear-jerker
"The Boys Are Back"
A mother dies, leaving her husband (Clive Owen) to grieve, reunite with his young son and generally let the kids run wild. Life lessons are learned, tears are shed, and a little boy drives a car in this true story.
Teen-ready
"Cirque du Freak"
A teen becomes a vampire's assistant -- one that's more Count Chocula than Dracula -- and cavorts with a bevy of sideshow-ready freaks. If you're tired of the woe-is-me-ing in the "Twilight" series, this one's for you.
